![]() Terry Tanner’s experience lies in the areas of project direction and management. A graduate of the University of British Columbia, his professional practice began, in Vancouver, with one of the oldest established Architectural firms in B.C. While he was there he worked on industrial, and institutional projects, and on the planning and early development of a new town on Vancouver Island. Since 1968 when he established Tanner/architect he has been a principal or partner of architectural practices in Vancouver and Calgary. He has been active in professional, business and community affairs in a number of organizations where concern for good community planning and development was the primary focus. After working with a new business development venture in the San Francisco Bay Area he returned to Vancouver in 1989, to work as vice president of development for a Vancouver based developer that had initiated development of office buildings in California. In 1996, he and a former partner John Kay, resumed their association in the areas of project development and architectural services. He moved to Peachland, in the Okanagan Valley, of British Columbia in 1997. Since arriving in the Okanagan he has enjoyed the opportunity to serve his community in several organizations that are concerned with development issues. Due to the renewed growth of economic activity the Okanagan, in 2004 Terry and John Kay joined forces with Pacific Rim Architecture Ltd. in order to serve the needs of a growing number of projects in the valley. Terry’s professional activities have ranged from that of an individual in a one-person practice to a partner in a firm with offices in Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Denver, with project offices in Whitehorse, and London England. The firm grew from 72 members in 1977, to 275, including 14 partners, in 1982. Terry has experience in all areas of architectural practice, a wide variety of project types, and sizes. He is also experienced as a project manager, and developer.
